In March of 2016, while employed at The Marketing Squad, Joel Gerdis, asked the owners consisting of Bryce Raley, Jay Stewart, and Wayne Cox if he could launch a tribe of believers so to speak who gathered together in the marketplace. They gave their blessing as it lined up with the kingdom building values. They have provided resources for the past 3 years but are not in any way the face of CBM.
Joel with the assistance of The Marketing Squad launched the very first Christian Business Meetup, or CBM as many call it, in March of 2016. His mentor Gregg Dedrick spoke at the very first event which drew around 70 people. Joel followed that up with monthly events during that first year.
Since then CBM has hosted 24 events in that span. Some of the most notable speakers outside of Gregg Dedrick were Doug Cobb, Daniel Montgomery, Tim Hester, Jude Thompson and Governor Matt Bevin.
Toward the end of 2016, on a cold winter day while eating at Salsaritas, Joel and Gregg met with Bryce Raley, founder of The Marketing Squad to develop a leadership team that would continue to steer CBM into the future. Shortly, after that Barb Stuart and Tad Douglas joined the team. Bruce Zoeller with TCA and the Business Ministry Initiative has also been a key contributor to planning and sponsorships.
Our mission at CBM is threefold. Provide a place for Christians to connect in the marketplace, encourage believers to go deeper in their faith, not separating the secular and sacred, and connecting missions and ministries to Christian owned businesses for support.
We do this through monthly meetups most months of the year.
